SMU: Over 90% of passengers can accept the fare increase of private hire cars and taxis

The SMU Institute of Service Excellence (ISE) recently released the 2022 Customer Satisfaction Index of Singapore research findings for the Land Transport sector. It revealed that despite the recent surge in private-hire vehicle and taxi fares, over 90 per cent of the respondents believe that the fare increase is acceptable. Those who are more price-sensitive say that the fare for this kind of point-to-point passenger service must drop by nearly 20 per cent before they are willing to take a ride. The survey also identified the top areas in which public transport should improve as ridership increases. Neeta Lachmandas, Executive Director of ISE, opined that the findings should prompt bus operators to adjust infrastructure and services to meet the resurgence of passenger demand.
