According to survey findings released by the SMU Centre for Research on Successful Ageing (ROSA), 43.44% of seniors living with others reported more satisfaction with life, whilst only 34.46% of those who lived alone felt the same. ROSA's Singapore Life Panel, a monthly panel survey of older Singaporeans currently aged 55 to 74 as well as their spouses, covered a host of areas including the impact of the pandemic on economic outcomes, the health impact of Covid-19 and the social well-being of older adults amid a changed environment. Reflecting on the findings, SMU Dean of Students and Professor of Sociology (Practice) Paulin Straughan, who is also Director of ROSA, spoke of the need for sustained efforts to help vulnerable seniors in society. ROSA also gave recommendations on how to help these vulnerable seniors.
