In a commentary, SMU Associate Professor of Law Eugene Tan discusses how the unprecedented 3-in-1 Singapore Budget (Unity, Resilience and Solidarity) is targeted at helping Singaporeans overcome the challenges brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic. The government has also made various efforts to help businesses overcome difficulties. Assoc Prof Tan touched on how some businesses had displayed anti-social behaviour, putting their individual advantage above the greater good. He added that the law is a tool that may be customised to prompt people to behave in the way that is appropriate for the situation. He explained that law enforcement will bring about additional costs, and highlighted the importance of building a more harmonious and united society.
