At this year’s National Day Awards, SMU Chancellor Mr Lim Chee Oon has been awarded the Order of Nila Utama (With High Distinction) while SMU’s former Chancellor Mr J.Y. Pillay has been conferred the Order of Temasek (With Distinction). Both the Order of Temasek and Order of Nila Utama are conferred by the President on the advice of the Prime Minister.
