Identical twins Chew Chen Hao and Chew Zhi Hao have been in the same educational institution since nursery school, right up to university. However, they took up different courses when they entered SMU. Chen Hao is graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Business Management, with a major in Organisational Behaviour & HR and is pursuing a career in human resources. Zhi Hao is graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science (Economics) and is working in the financial sector as a commercial banking graduate analyst.

SMU kicked off four days of graduation celebration for the 2837-strong Class of 2019 yesterday at the Opening Ceremony of SMU Commencement 2019. The ceremony was attended by 1,000 graduates, award winners, as well as family and friends of the graduates. This is also the last ceremony where Mr J Y Pillay will attend as Chancellor of SMU. In his address, SMU Chairman Mr Ho Kwon Ping thanked Mr Pillay for his contribution to SMU in the last 10 years and also urged the graduates not to job-hop simply for higher salary or promotion, but to try out different jobs to find which area of work gives them the most satisfaction and enduring curiosity; and also to consider working outside of Singapore.
