Singapore, 1 July 2019 (Monday) - The Singapore Management University is pleased to announce that Mr Ganen Sarvananthan has been appointed to the SMU Board of Trustees with effect from 1 July 2019. His appointment will be for a term of four years.
Ganen is currently the Co-Managing Partner of TPG Capital Asia. Prior to joining TPG in 2014, Ganen served as Head of Investments at Khazanah Nasional Berhad, the Government of Malaysia’s strategic investment fund, for almost a decade. He also worked at UBS Investment Bank based in London, Hong Kong and Singapore for more than seven years between 1997 and 2004.
Ganen currently serves as a Board member of PropertyGuru, TE Healthcare and some its subsidiaries including Hong Kong Integrated Oncology Centre Limited (HKIOC), Cardiac Vascular Sentral (Kuala Lumpur) Sdn Bhd (CVSKL), Pathology Asia Holdings Pte Ltd and its subsidiaries and Apollo Towers Pte Ltd which are some of TPG’s portfolio companies in Southeast Asia.
Ganen received his tertiary education at University College London (1993 – 1996) and qualified as a Barrister at Law, England & Wales (1998). Ganen was a former ASEAN, British Chevening and HRH Sultan Azlan Shah scholar.

Members of the SMU Board of Trustees are appointed by the Minister for Education. The Board is chaired by Mr Ho Kwon Ping, Executive Chairman of Banyan Tree Holdings Limited and comprises 19 eminent business leaders, academics, entrepreneurs, and professionals from the public service and private sectors.
