In a commentary, SMU Assistant Professor of Law Benjamin Joshua Ong examined the intricacies of the new Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act (Pofma) in light of recent criticisms of it being too vague. He opined that “in order to engage in an informed analysis or critique of Pofma, — or, indeed, of any Act — one must look beyond the words of the Act, to the constellation of principles and definitions laid down by the courts in the case law”.
