Temporary Closure of Fort Canning Link & Fort Canning Tunnel

Singapore, 12 April 2019 (Friday) - Fort Canning Link and Fort Canning Tunnel will be temporarily closed for a period of seven days from Saturday, 27 April 2019 at 12am. The closure is to facilitate Singapore Management University’s construction of a bridge as part of the Tahir Foundation Connexion project.

The affected road will be reopened for traffic use on Saturday, 4 May 2019, at 12am, upon completion of the works. The road closure is necessary for the safety of road users in view of the complexity of the construction of the bridge above the road.

Motorists heading towards Penang Road from Hill Street can continue to use Stamford Road to reach their destinations.

There will be directional and information signs along Hill Street, North Bridge Road and Stamford Road to guide motorists prior to the road closure and during construction works.

About the Tahir Foundation Connexion

The Tahir Foundation Connection is a five-storey green building in the heart of the city designed to support the SMU’s innovative SMU-X pedagogy, as well as cultivate innovation and entrepreneurship.  The development, which broke ground on 27 August 2019, has been made possible by a donation from the Tahir Foundation and a grant from the Building and Construction Authority under the Public Sector Construction Productivity Fund.

Located between SMU’s School of Accountancy and School of Law, the new building will add over 8,600 square metres of teaching-and-learning space to SMU’s city campus.  It will also enable seamless connectivity through the entire SMU city campus.

The Tahir Foundation Connexion is designed to be experimental in architectural expression, while tastefully and seamlessly blending in with the existing SMU campus, the lush Fort Canning Park and the historical buildings in its vicinity. The building is slated to be completed before the end of 2019.
