SMU alumnus Jason Chua was a former Normal (Technical) student who was posted to the Institute of Technical Education, but instead chose to sit for his O levels as a private candidate. He eventually made it to Millennia Institute, and to SMU, where he read Law. Mr Chua, who graduated from SMU in 2018, attributed his success to an "unconventional" path, and to the educators that he met along the way.
