A study conducted by researchers from SMU, the Hanken School of Economics in Finland, Providence College, Virginia Commonwealth University and Pepperdine University in the US, has found that mindfulness training programmes can be beneficial for the well-being of middle managers. Associate Professor of Organisational Behaviour & Human Resources Jochen Reb, Director of the Mindfulness Initiative in SMU, who co-authored the research, said work detachment is an “important facilitator of recovery” and “important in avoiding chronic stress and burnout.”. The study, titled “Overworked and Under-Resourced: A Mindfulness Intervention for Middle Manager Well-Being”, was conducted with 130 middle managers across four large organisations in Finland.
