DPM Tharman: 'Project 4650 ' launched in 2012 helps needy Singaporeans alleviate poverty and to rebuild confidence

In the launch of the book titled How Working Together Matters: Adversity, Aspiration, Action, edited by SMU Behavioural Sciences Institute Director Professor David Chan, Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam emphasised the importance of many parties working together to help families in need to gain access to government support schemes. He also noted that the experience in the project helping 1,183 families, which was analysed in the book, showed that there is no contradiction between collective action and personal responsibility. Prof Chan hopes that lessons from the project will be useful for other projects, both social and non-social.
