In a commentary, SMU Associate Professor of Law Eugene Tan discussed the origins of Singapore's Penal Code and explored its relevancy in the 21st century. He opined that while various adjustments in recent years have helped the code to remain relevant, it is too simplistic to assume that what we have now would serve us well in face of demands from the 21st century.
