Those who are suicidal 'need help, not punishment'

SMU Dean of Students and Professor of Sociology (Practice) Paulin Straughan said decriminalising suicide is a big step towards recognising the importance of destigmatising mental illness. "Attempted suicides are a cry for help and we must embrace a whole-of-society approach to help those afflicted to lead normal, productive lives," she added.
