Immunity for marital rape has been unconditionally abolished

Commenting on the call to unconditionally and completely remove immunity for marital rape, SMU Associate Professor of Law Eugene Tan, who has always been in favour of its removal explained that it would not be easy to convince those who oppose. Associate Prof Tan added that he would urge them to consider ways to build an equal and mutually respectful relationship with their spouses, and encouraging them to live harmoniously, as he believes that this would reaffirm the sanctity of marriage, and help build stronger families.
