SMU has launched a one-stop student centre which uses Artificial Intelligence technology to simplify administrative processes for its students. AskSmooSmoo is a virtual assistant that provides students with enquiry services 24 hours a day. This use of AI to serve students needs is a first in institutions of higher learning in Singapore. Students only need to log onto the SMU website and enter their queries to be provided with an immediate response by the system. AskSmooSmoo therefore comes as a new way of communication, to help students solve some basic issues, where the more complicated ones would be referred to the student centre. SMU Provost Professor Lily Kong shared that the seniors understand the challenges of these administrative processes that the freshmen face.
