Workers’ Party's 60th anniversary: Urgent political breakthroughs

In a commentary, SMU Associate Professor of Law Eugene Tan highlighted the milestones of the Workers’ Party (WP) since their formation 60 years ago and analysed the direction in which the WP is heading. Associate Prof Tan shared insights into WP's strategies, as well as their role, which he argued, should not be limited to questions and criticisms within the Parliament. He added that the Party needs to further strengthen its policy-making expertise by proposing forward-looking and inspiring viable alternatives to these policies. He also believed that WP is seeking a breakthrough by building an alternative government, but shared their limitations which could hinder their political ambition.
