In a commentary, SMU Professor of Law Tang Hang Wu called on policymakers, NGOs, lawyers and others to improve oversight to tackle this growing problem of financial abuse of the elderly, especially in a rapidly ageing society like Hong Kong. Prof Tang noted that the issues surrounding the financial planning mechanisms available to those with special needs are complex and require a multifaceted approach.
