From roasted beans to coffeemix to Fraps

SMU Lee Kong Chian School of Business alumnus Richard Te was featured in an article on how Owl International had successfully revamped itself from being just the humble roaster to a complete coffee company, with its own gourmet beans and cafes. Mr Te, who joined the family business in 2010 as the Project Manager for Owl International, said he wanted to "revolutionise the way we consume our traditional coffee in a modern setting" so he looked into the technology for freeze-dried beans and coffee capsules. He added that he wanted Owl International to stay true to the Singapore coffee culture and for customers to remember that it is a true-blue Singaporean heritage brand. About 300 variants of the products, including specialist coffee, tea, cereal drinks and soya bean curd mixes, are distributed internationally.
