SMU undergraduate Wilson Teo Wei Sheng recently became a certified financial planner and plans to give financial planning a shot upon graduation. Wilson was first intrigued by financial planning when he did a module on personal financial planning at Temasek Polytechnic. He subsequently enrolled in a financial planning module as part of his accounting and finance diploma, where he picked up basic money management skills like budgeting the month's expenses, setting aside emergency funds and investing his spare savings. These skills have proven so useful for him personally that he now aspires to share the knowledge with as many people as he can. Financial planning may or may not be his eventual choice, but it has made him a tougher person, training him to handle rejection and deal with people.
