Helping undergraduates pursue global exposure program

Mercu-SMU Excellence Scholarship recipient Nur Amalina Saparin said that the $12,000 scholarship she received would be more than enough to help fund her exchange programme at Sydney's University of South Wales next year. Third-year law student Khairul Ashraf Khairul Anwar, who is also the Vice President of SMU Malay Language and Culture Club, said that the scholarship will continue to light up the spirit of students and future students of SMU, allowing them to continue their pursuit of excellence. He represented SMU in an international moot court competition in Mumbai early this year. Another recipient, Muhammad Hafiz Kasman, hopes that the scholarship would attract more Malay students to study at SMU. He led a group of SMU students in a global module course with Wharton School, Pennsylvania University, on several regional tours. Both Khairul and Hafiz hope to use the scholarship to attend more enrichment programmes overseas.
