Chinese and Singaporean universities collaborate and contribute to ‘One Belt, One Road’ – Feature Interview with SMU’s President Professor Arnoud De Meyer

SMU has established itself as a different university in the education sector and achieved several milestones in collaborations with Chinese academic institutions, in just 15 years.  In an interview to commemorate 25 years of China-Singapore ties, as well as SMU’s 15th anniversary, SMU President Professor Arnoud De Meyer said that he has placed strong emphasis on building and strengthening ties with China ever since he assumed office, and highlighted key initiatives and achievements over the past three years. Prof De Meyer commented that SMU has attained a solid foundation in academic collaborations, and the University is deepening its strategic partnerships and carving more niche areas. He added that SMU can contribute to the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road through its unparalleled strengths in financial research, regional hub experiences and excellent business management talents.
