SMU introduces new pedagogy that enables students and faculty to learn through experimentation and practical application

Starting from its new academic year in August, SMU will be introducing six modules under its SMU-X programme, which crosses various disciplines and helps organisations solve real-life issues. SMU-X aims to shift emphasis from teaching to self-learning. The six modules include Intelligent Accounting Function, Internal Audit, and Subjective Wellbeing: The Science of Happiness, with more modules to be introduced in future. SMU-X was officially launched on April 23 at the SMU Labs in the former MPH Building at Stamford Road. SMU Associate Director (Strategic Planning) at the Office of President Tan Gan Hup, who set up SMU-X, said that the concept focuses on teamwork and practical problem solving through the comprehensive modules and a flexible curriculum.
