Neptune Orient Lines (NOL) has generously supported SMU students through the NOL Lua Cheng Eng Memorial Scholarship and NOL Best Final Year Business Student Award.
Established in 2011, the scholarship was set up in memory of the late Mr Lua Cheng Eng, former managing director and chairman of NOL. Recipients of the scholarship for academic year 2014/2015 include Yeo So Phia (Lee Kong Chian School of Business) and Thaddeus Sim (School of Economics). After graduation, Yeo So Phia joined NOL’s subsidiary, APL, as a Process Excellence Analyst. Final year student Thaddeus will intern in APL’s Strategy and Planning department. The scholarship, valued at $12,000, aims to motivate and further the potential of business students interested in a maritime career.

Launched in 2000, the NOL Best Final Year Business Student Award was recently awarded to Chong Shyang Long (Lee Kong Chian School of Business). The award is a cash prize of $2,000 and goes to business students with excellent academic results and community service records.
