SMU Assistant Professor of Law Jack Lee commented on the possible contest by opposition parties in the Tanjong Pagar district in the next national election following the passing of Mr Lee Kuan Yew. He said: “Opposition parties may find it an uphill task to make headway there because of the feelings of gratitude and respect for Mr Lee that many constituents have.”
