In his weekly commentary, SMU adjunct faculty member Larry Haverkamp wrote about the direction of the world’s economy since 2008, when fast action by governments prevented the world from sinking into another Great Depression. He covered topics such as quantitative easing; the boosting of economies by governments cutting taxes while borrowing, and spending on infrastructure; and on other ways to stimulate an economy, including lowering the interest rates for a country’s Central Bank.
