In a forum letter, [SMU APolitical President] Amos Maximilian Lee Canguang thanked SMU Associate Professor of Law Eugene Tan for his commentary “Public spending an investment, not a mere expense” (TODAY, March 3). Lee said that while the Government has been focusing on improving the economy in its policies, this was shifted with the introduction of the Pioneer Generation Package last year. Although such measures can be expensive, they can be long-term investments benefitting the people, and he hopes that the Government can continue with this shift in social policy.
