In his weekly commentary, SMU adjunct faculty member Larry Haverkamp wrote about “balance transfers” offered by Singapore banks, which feature low promotional rates plus administrative charges for six to 12 months. He also spoke about the “currency conversion charge” implemented for overseas purchases charged to credit cards, and the “double conversion” of credit cards, and commented that currency conversion should be made free as banks and card companies pay nearly zero for such costs.
