More support for students keen on research and academic career

Under the new Singapore Academic and Research Talent Scheme, the Ministry of Education (MOE) will fund half of the postgraduate talent development schemes of SMU, NUS and NTU. It will also set up a new scholarship called the MOE-Autonomous University Scholarship for undergraduates, to allow them to eventually pursue a career in a local university. The scholarship will start this year and target 10 to 15 recipients each year. Each recipient will be paired with a local university but will be free to study locally or overseas. To boost the efforts of SMU, NUS and NTU in grooming future faculty members, MOE will also co-fund SMU's Faculty Development Scheme; NUS's Overseas Graduate Scholarship, Overseas Postdoctoral Fellowship and Early Career Award; as well as NTU's Senior Tutorship Scheme.
