Expectations of household inflation to fall to lowest level

According to latest quarterly survey for the Singapore Index of Inflation Expectations conducted by SMU, expectations of Singapore’s household inflation had fallen to the lowest level since three years ago due to declining oil prices and fluctuations in the global economy. For the coming year, expectations for Singapore household inflation last month declined to 3.53 per cent, from 3.73 per cent last September. Programme Director of the Sim Kee Boon Institute for Financial Economics at SMU and Assistant Professor of Finance Aurobindo Ghosh said that recent moderation of accommodation and car prices, and declining oil prices which lowered imported inflation, were seen to be lowering the current inflation rate.
