SMU Associate Professor of Law and former Nominated Member of Parliament (NMP) Eugene Tan felt that the Liquor Control (Supply and Consumption) Bill, which was tabled in Parliament on Monday, was a big step towards normalcy. During his days as an NMP, Associate Prof Tan spoke extensively on liquor restrictions. He added that the Bill “signals our moving from a country with one of the most lax restrictions on alcohol sale and consumption to one which has fairly significant restrictions”.
