SMU School of Social Sciences undergraduate Zahirah Lyana Mohd Khir extended her work stint at the Yayasan Peduli Kepulauan Riau foundation by four more months last year. She said that she had learnt the meaning of discipline as she had to travel between Singapore and Bintan frequently during the 10-week internship. The foundation aims to improve the lives of the Sea People (Orang Laut) community by helping to increase their source of income.
