11 SMU faculty and staff receive the National Day honours in recognition of public service

For their commitment and dedication, as well as the impact they have made to the country’s tertiary education sector, it was announced, in conjunction with National Day 2014, that 11 SMU faculty and staff would receive the 2014 National Day Awards in recognition of their outstanding performance. They were among 3,354 individuals in 19 award categories to be awarded.
On 23 November 2014, President Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam officiated the National Day Awards Ceremony, where Professor Steven Miller and Mr Alan Goh were presented with the Public Administration Medal (Silver), and Associate Professor Andrew Lee received the Public Administration Medal (Bronze).
Mr Hawazi Daipi, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Manpower will also be presenting on 30 January the Commendation Medal to Mr Alan Koh Swee Wan, Mr Andrew Aaron Tam Tuck Weng, Mr Ben Goh Teck Lim and Ms Geraldine Pang Pui Yein; and the Efficiency Medal to Mr Fred How Pui Beng, Ms Janet Neo Soek Hwa, Mr Danny Setiawan Tjoe and Ms Tan Suh Wen.
SMU President, Professor Arnoud De Meyer, said, “The Singapore National Day Awards are a means of recognising various forms of merit and service to Singapore. Each year, we are happy to have a group of SMU faculty and staff being acknowledged for their dedication and service. I congratulate all of them for the good work done, and look forward to their continuous contribution as our university celebrates its 15th anniversary.”
