Work applicants not restricted to academic results

Employers taking part in SMU’s Career and Internship Fair were looking to recruit employees with an open attitude, who were ready to try new things out of their academic scope. They were not selecting them based solely on their academic results. As many as 88 employers from multi-national corporations, small and medium enterprises as well as the Civil Service took part in the exhibition. Manpower Minister Tan Chuan-Jin was also present to speak to 180 SMU students about leadership, and he underlined several important leadership qualities, including securing public trust. He also emphasised that good academic results and good leadership qualities can co-exist as both are equally important.
