Second edition of Reading Law in Singapore published

SMU Professor of Law and Academic Director of the Centre for Cross-Border Commercial Law in Asia Tang Hang Wu is one of the editors of the second edition of Reading Law in Singapore. The book, which was launched a few days ago, is a joint effort by the SMU School of Law and NUS Law School. Prof Tang said that the team took one year to write the second edition as they had received feedback from various readers of the first edition, who requested for the inclusion of other topics like intellectual property and family law. Prof Tang added that the main purpose of the book is to enable students to learn more about the study of law in order to determine if the discipline is a good fit for them. This would allow them to make a more informed decision on the field of study to pursue. He pointed out that the second edition contains essays written by the deans of three law schools, including SMU School of Law Dean Professor Yeo Tiong Min who wrote about contract law. Two recent graduates also contributed articles on their experiences studying at the law schools. Prof Tang said that the proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated to the Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund.
