Why Modi Budget matters to us in S'pore

In a commentary, Senior Associate Director of the SMU Office of Postgraduate Professional Programmes S.N. Venkat noted that given the scale of two-way investments and trade between Singapore and India, the first Budget to be presented by the newly-elected BJP government in India on July 10 will be closely watched in Singapore. He quoted a cross section of business leaders on their views, including SMU Assistant Professor of Finance and Programme Director of the Sim Kee Boon Institute for Financial Economics, Aurobindo Ghosh who shared his concern about inflation and agriculture in India. Also quoted was SMU Adjunct Faculty and Programme Director of the SMU Women and Leadership Programme (Executive Education), Tanvi Gautam who commented on a possible gender budget allocation which she thought should be used for starting inclusion and diversity training in schools and colleges.
