On the decision by Singapore Airlines not to offer flights to Cairo, Egypt, and Riyadh, SMU Assistant Professor of Strategic Management (Education) Terence Fan said that Middle Eastern carriers like Qatar Airways and Emirates provide more flight options and offer more frequent flights. He pointed out that other airlines have made inroads into the route by partnering Middle Eastern carriers and that SIA “needs to figure out how to best serve the market dominated by these Middle Eastern carriers”.
