In a forum letter, SMU Associate Professor of Law Henry Gao wrote that the Singapore Government has taken a huge stride in the right direction by setting up the bicultural committee to develop the local translation community. However, he said that it also requires the participation and commitment from the society to make it work. He also provided translations for several famous English phrases in hope of initiating better ideas or conversations over translation works.
