SMU team wins round 1 of DSM’s Data Innovation Challenge

Team Davidlowjw, which comprised Research Engineer David LOW and Research Scientist Dr Richard OENTARYO from SMU's Living Analytics Research Centre, came up with the winning solution for the Data Innovation Challenge's question on how a company could accurately project its sales volume for a particular segment, in a particular region, for a particular year. The team members adopted a three-phase approach to the problem. The team also created an internal validation dataset using the most recent three months’ data, in order to evaluate and fine-tune the model for submission for the Challenge.
