SMU Associate Professor of Law Eugene Tan said, commenting on the verdicts of a number of high-profile corruption cases this year, that “the courts demonstrated that these cases would be prosecuted with the full force of the law and that the courts would dispense the cases in as fair a manner as possible. In relation to a blogger who was accused of undermining the judiciary, he said, “I think the courts are prepared to receive robust assessment of their judgments… so long as this freedom is exercised in a responsible manner.”
