Local researchers found three security weaknesses in Apple’s iOS operating system

Singapore researchers from the SMU School of Information Systems and A*STAR’s Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R) discovered three security weaknesses in Apple's iOS operating system which the firm subsequently corrected in its latest version of iOS 7. The weaknesses would have allowed people to use third-party applications to crack the device's pass-code, interfere or control telephone functions and send tweets without the user's permission or awareness. SMU Professor of Information Systems Robert Deng said that the researchers were spurred by the popularity of the iOS operating system. "Some companies also allow their executives to use their personal devices for business, so some people will use the operating system to access business information," he said.
