Don't post when you are emotional

The Internet never forgets. So think twice before posting something that others may find insensitive. This advice came from experts, including Academic Director of SMU Executive Development Dr Michael Netzley, after a post from blogger Cheryl Seow three years ago returned to haunt her. The post cited reactions from netizens who slammed her for seemingly suggesting that Singaporeans should blame themselves for their “own poverty”. Dr Netzley advised that people “should not post when [they] are emotional or wish to react to something [they] saw online”. They should also be conscious of their online behaviour and comments. Dr Netzley added that “We should be teaching digital literacy to the children in schools. You can never be fully prepared without knowing how.”
