Betting the farm

SMU graduate Lim Hong Zhuang has ventured into the high-stake world of cash crop farming, and is out to prove that farming can make big bucks and improve lives of those in the community. He excelled in an entrepreneurship module at SMU, where he graduated with a merit degree in business and sociology in 2009, amid the financial crisis. He was already knee-deep in mud at his farm then, but noted that many of his peers, despite the scarcity of jobs, preferred to wait it out for a good MNC job.
