New MOE measures for P1 registration

SMU Assistant Professor of Sociology (Education) Chung Wai Keung was of the view that the balloting for Phase 2A of P1 registration should not be based on the distance between the school of choice and the applicant’s residence. He commented that using family background as a criteria would be a fairer way for the balloting and would also enhance diversity in the school population. Assistant Prof Chung was responding to a new measure announced by MOE to allocate 40 spaces for Phase 2B and 2C of the P1 registration.
