At least three walking groups – The Jeywalkers, Jane’s Walk and Singapore Footprints – have sprung up here in the last two years to provide activities that explore the city's heritage on foot. Jane’s Walk’s events take place once a year in May. These included a food-themed walk in Katong, a heritage walk in Bukit Brown cemetery and a walk with a literary theme through the Bras Basah and Victoria Street areas led by SMU Associate Professor of English Literature and poet-academic Kirpal Singh.
