Singapore Management University expands education ties in India

SMU is set to sign another memorandum of understanding with Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow as part of its plan to expand the presence of its executive education programme in India. The university has signed six agreements with various Indian universities so far. SMU Provost and Deputy President for Academic Affairs, Professor Rajendra K. Srivastava, said that the university is ready to launch a number of higher educational programmes in India this month onwards. A team from SMU would work with IIT Kanpur from the end of the month to co-design a masters’ programme in innovation. “We already have one such programme at SMU but we are going to adapt it to the Indian context,” Prof Srivastava added. SMU would also conduct a programme with the Bombay Stock Exchange Institute on financial strategy for small and medium enterprises in September, and would also join IIM Bangalore for a programme for Certification in Wealth Management in late September. Explaining its interest in India, Prof Srivastava said, “We are finding people that we can work with on similar skills that we have and develop the executive programmes.”
