Temasek Holdings’ assets had probably jumped to a record as it benefitted from a rebound in global stocks. However, the short-selling of Olam International shares by Carson Block was a key challenge. Olam is partly owned by Temasek and the company became the biggest shareholder after increasing its stake to 24 per cent from 16 per cent. On the increase in stake, SMU BNP Paribas Hedge Fund Centre Director Melvyn Teo commented in April that Temasek’s stake increase had offered comfort to some investors.
