On the appointment of Mr Chua Eng Leong, the son of former Cabinet minister Chua Sian Chin, as the ruling party's branch chairman for the Eunos ward last month, SMU Assistant Professor of Law Eugene Tan noted that timing is critical in leadership transition, as well as the set-up of a new team in the Aljunied GRC. He said:  "Two years have passed since GE 2011, and there is a more urgent need now to set up the team”. Assistant Prof Tan also added that PAP must show that they are serious in winning back Aljunied GRC, but noted that the WP now has the incumbency advantage, as they have been focusing their resources on the GRC.
