More than $13,000 had been raised for the Singaporean cyclist, Al-Matin Mohamed, who was hospitalised after being hit by a car in New York City earlier this month. SMU undergraduate Yang Sheng Chuan was among the 10 friends who had helped to set up a Facebook account to raise funds for Matin and had been posting regular updates on the amount raised. He said: "We started this fund-raising initiative mainly to reach out to Matin's friends and schoolmates, but also received anonymous donations. Some of them deposit the money into the bank account without contacting us to leave behind their names."
