SMU findings: Customer satisfaction of retail and info-communications industry reaches new highs

Despite retailers' fears that their lack of manpower following tighter foreign labour policies could hit service standards and customer satisfaction, the Institute of Service Excellence at SMU (ISES) on Thursday gave the retail and info-communications sectors their best scores since the index was launched in 2007.  The retail sector's satisfaction score hit a high of 72.2 out of a possible hundred, 3 points up from a year ago, while the info-communications sector achieved a record 67.7 points. On the other hand, long-term mobile customers have become less loyal to their service providers compared to newer subscribers. ISES Academic Director Marcus Lee said that this could be because telcos have been launching new packages to entice new subscribers. While this helps to expand their market share in the short term, they might lose subscribers in the long term..
