Continuously innovating for success

SMU Associate Professor of Strategic Management (Practice) Adel Dimian responded to a question about what leaders and managers of SMEs could do to ensure the continued success of their companies. He said that companies should avoid the Incumbent's Dilemma, the tension experienced by an already successful firm when trying to create its future due to the mindset which tends to ignore future opportunities, resulting in an inability to see alternative solutions and make changes. He added that a well-executed strategy that involves innovation and continuing entrepreneurship is the key.
